State of economic availability of food products during the war of russia in Ukraine: national and world aspects of research

Abstract

In this work, an analysis of the destructive consequences that arose in the food sector of the Ukrainian economy due to the war with Russia was carried out. The dynamics of the growth of consumer prices for food on the national consumer market are reflected and commented on. It is emphasized that the military actions on the territory of Ukraine have significantly slowed down the development of the agro-industrial complex of the national economy, caused the deterioration of the state of the main component of food security - the physical and economic availability of food products for the population. State measures regarding operational actions aimed at supporting the level of consumption of citizens who suffered from military actions are defined and commented on. The importance of charitable activities of international public organizations and structures in providing food aid to Ukraine is emphasized. It is shown that the war disrupted the export-import relations of Ukraine with many countries of the world. The "jumps" of price indices for food products and non-alcoholic beverages in the countries of Asia, Africa, Europe, South and North America are displayed and commented on in graphic and tabular form. The necessity of forming a food security system of Ukraine with a long-term strategy for improving the condition of all its components was noted. The expediency of applying the experience of the USA and other Western countries in maintaining the necessary level of food security has been determined. The importance of stimulating the sustainable and balanced development of farming, the organization of public procurement for the creation of reserve and insurance funds is especially emphasized. The expediency of applying the experience of European countries regarding the creation of "food banks" or "food pantries" by local communities to solve current and force majeure problems regarding the availability of food to ordinary citizens was noted. An example of the creation of a food bank in Ukraine and its charitable and humanitarian activities is given. The first positive results of food support for the population affected by hostilities are shown, thanks to the work of the food bank "Public Organization "Tarylka", which operates on a volunteer basis in Lviv and has offices in Kyiv and Kherson.
