Abstract

Environmental issues, economic and social issues can not be considered in isolation, they should be integrated, the status of each of the subsystems serves as both a condition and as a consequence of the development and operation of the other two subsystems. For today, the status of sustainable development in international law is uncertain, the «three pillars» of the sustainable development concept (the Stockholm Declaration, the Rio Declaration and the Johannesburg Implementation Plan and the Declaration of Principles) contain only a list of the individual components of this concept, but do not provide a comprehensive definition and list of basic principles.
The genesis of the evolution of approaches to the interpretation of the concept of «sustainable development» in the official documents of international organizations and in the economic and legal doctrine is analyzed in the article, it is proved that the following components (principles) are based on this concept: saving of the environment, harmonious combination of economic, social and ecological development; the balance of technological and economic development, the coordination of efforts of the whole community to achieve sustainable development, interconnection of generations, the leading role of the state in ensuring sustainable development.
Key words: sustainable development, concept.
