ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF SOCIAL PROTECTION PUBLIC SERVICE EMPLOYEES

Abstract

The article deals with the social protection of
public service workers. The aim is to find out advantages
and disadvantages of modern legal regulation
of social protection of public service workers.
Revealed that the social protection of public service
workers varies depending on the category of such
employees and the direction of public service activities.
The paper highlighted the need for improved
social protection for public service employees by
creating common and uniform rules of law on the
principles and criteria for providing such protection.
Discussed in the article advantages and disadvantages
of the current state of social protection of
public service workers can be used as the basis of
strategy to improve the work of legislative and executive power in Ukraine. 

The author determined that public service employees
include persons who are in labor relations
with the state in the person of state bodies and with
the territorial community. Their common feature is
the presence of power, which does not allow to include
in the list of employees of state and municipal
organizations, institutions, as well as activities to
perform public tasks and provide services to society
as a whole, which distinguishes them from private
companies. The advantages of social protection of
public service employees include: specialization,
compliance with the current economic situation,
security. As for specialization, it is most clearly manifested
in the social protection of law enforcement
agencies, each of which has a different field of activity.
The level of material assistance and social security
for the prosecutor and his family members is guaranteed,
so that the social risk of reaching retirement
age does not have negative consequences. At the
same time, the provision on free medical care only in
the place where the prosecutor was registered during
the service is disputable, as it does not take into account
the possibility of relocation. Another advantage of social protection of public service employees can be considered its compliance with the economic situation.
