MEDIATION AS A WAY OF SOLVING INTERNATIONAL DISPUTES

Abstract

Conflicts are becoming a pressing issue for many societies and one of the constraints factors in the development of states. Therefore the use of peaceful means of resolving international conflicts today is necessary.
The article defines the concept and origin of mediation as a way of peaceful resolution of a public international dispute. The work outlines the peculiarities of mediation in comparison with the negotiations. The concept of multiparty mediation and its main advantages and disadvantages are defined. The authors cover the issues of international legal regulation of the mediation procedure, the conditions for its implementation, as well as the factors that influence the effective use of mediation. The scientific work reveals the importance of the basic principles of the implementation of mediation, as well as the role of states and international organizations in the process of resolving conflicts.
