EUROPEAN INTEGRATION AND THE MODERN LEGAL SYSTEM OF UKRAINE: THE PATH TO STABILITY AND DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

The article emphasizes how Ukraine, as a sovereign state, has always sought to strengthen its status and improve the quality of life of its citizens. However, this process has not always been easy, and recent decades have shown the key role of European integration in shaping and reforming the legal system.
The article examines the evolution of Ukraine's legal system since its independence in 1991 and points to its role in consolidating society and ensuring the rights and freedoms of citizens. In particular, the article examines the impact of European integration on legal reform and harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with European standards.

The development of the modern legal system began with the adoption of Ukraine's independence and the departure from Soviet principles and law. However, the beginning of this development was marked by some contradictions. This included the lack of a clear direction for the development of strategic goals, the formation of conflicting legal norms, and the presence of some Soviet principles and acts that hindered the formation of the new system.
It emphasizes the importance of objective and targeted changes in the legal system to increase Ukraine's competitiveness in the international arena, attract investment, and protect the rights of citizens. The article analyzes the current state of the legal system and shows how European integration has contributed to reforms in various areas of law, increasing transparency and independence of the judiciary.
The author calls for joint efforts of the state and citizens to ensure a strong, fair and modern legal system that plays an important role in the stability and development of Ukraine.
The European integration period of the legal system development is characterized by a certain imbalance of social processes and activities of the authorities. On the one hand, the adoption and fulfillment of certain European obligations gave impetus to the ratification of European values and approximation to global standards. On the other hand, there is a mismatch between the legal system and social requirements, conflicting provisions and existing bureaucracy significantly hinder the development of law and its systemic components.
