The emergence of cities and their development
are inextricably linked with the development of
humanity itself, with the history of human civilization.
According to the traditional view of researchers of the
history of the state and law, the transition to
agriculture created one of the most important factors
for the creation of civilization - an increase in the
fodder base, which in turn created objective needs for
the storage of grown cereals, in addition, there was a need for the division of labor and unification people for a more efficient farming process. In the opinion of the author, the indicated factors only partially reflect the reasons and mechanisms that led to the emergence of cities. The current publication examines the geographical and topographical factors behind the emergence of cities, security factors, and the status of cities as religious centers.
