The article substantiates the fundamentals of food security in the context of vulnerability to economic, climate and geopolitical shocks, evaluates and analyzes the Global Food Security Index of Ukraine. The Global Food Security Index (GFSI) shows a decline in global food security for the second year in a row and addresses physical and financial affordability, food quality and security, and natural resources and sustainability in 113 countries. The index is a dynamic quantitative and qualitative comparison model based on 58 unique indicators that measure food security factors in both developing and developed countries. Military actions on the territory of Ukraine have had an extremely negative impact on the functioning of food systems. Integrated supply chains for agriculture and food products (from primary production to sales to consumers) have been broken, as well as activities to create added value in the agro-industrial complex related to the production, processing, distribution, consumption and disposal of food products; sowing campaigns have been disrupted in a large area, which is particularly threatening given the high world prices for gas and, consequently, mineral fertilizers. Collectively, this will reduce grain yields, harvests and exports. The export of Ukrainian products to foreign markets is significantly complicated due to the blockade of Ukrainian ports. The consequences have led to serious threats to global food security, namely further rising of world food prices; global inflation jump. The spiritual power of the whole world in the battle for Ukraine has a common desire to ensure peace for the sake of global food security and stability.
