The emphasis is placed on the importance of attracting students to the implementation of active creative activity in the process of their education, which will allow them to make an ascent from the knowledge gained, enriched with "felt" life experience, to a comprehensive disclosure of their spiritual and creative potential and will make it possible for them to realize the meaning of life, i.e. to live a full life filled with joy, pleasure and happiness.
The article provides a characteristic of the ideas of modern scientists-educators about the goals of education at the beginning of the 21st century, among which the focus on the creative self-development of a holistic, creative, initiative, highly spiritual, highly moral, highly cultured, highly educated personality occupies an important place. Particular attention in the article is paid to the characteristics of the main obstacles to the development of the spiritual and creative potential of students.
