The author of the article considers the possibilities of using a personal-activity approach in the process of professional development of a future specialist in the field of music pedagogy. The key ideas of well-known scientists, representatives of the personal-activity approach in psychology and pedagogy, are covered. Theoretical concepts related to the professional development of future professionals, in particular in the field of art education, are analyzed.
Professional development is considered in the article as a special type of activity aimed at self-improvement of the future teacher. Therefore, much attention is paid to the analysis of this phenomenon, its specificity. It is noted that professional development has a certain structure. It occurs at certain stages, i.e. it is a "formation" of the individual, adequate to the requirements of professional activity, because it is the activity that sets the requirements for the individual, acts as a stimulus for its development.
Professional development of future musicians involves a close combination of personal and activity aspects; in the process of designing the educational process for future professionals in the field of music pedagogy it is necessary to focus on the individual as a goal, subject, result and the main criterion of its effectiveness.
