The article describes in detail various approaches to the formation of skills necessary for schoolchildren for successful activity in the 21st century. A number of projects and programs are described, which present the list of such skills and their content in detail. A comparative analysis of the project “Assessment and Teaching of Twenty First Century Skills” with the project “The 21st Century Skills Partnership” and their common features and essential differences are outlined.
The current state standards of general secondary school and primary education are characterized in detail from the point of view of the key competencies they have and the comprehensive skills that school graduates should possess. It has been established that “the skills for the 21st century” presented in the ATS 21S project are only partially reflected in the standards.
It has been found out that “the skills of the 21st century” from the ATS 21S project are more fully reflected in the recently adopted Standard for specialized scientific education. Based on the assumption that the Standard of specialized education of a scientific direction can be implemented in the form of a complex of research skills (technical, organizational, operational, practical, and communicative), a connection between the skills and research competences was found on the one hand, and on the other hand it has been confirmed that a significant number of “the 21st century skills” from the ATS 21S project coincide with a complex of isolated research skills.
