The consequences of changes of the digital generation compared to their predecessors have been determined, and an attempt is made to predict the development of the informational planetary civilization taking into account these changes. The main consequences of the information revolution for the digital generation have been analyzed (clippy thinking, multitasking, etc.). It is noted that the clip-like thinking is the response of the consciousness of a modern person to a significant increase in the flow of information. There is a decrease in the critical thinking threshold of modern schoolchildren and students, a weakening of their responsibility for their actions, their absent-mindedness, hyperactivity, lack of attention and the preference of visual symbols over logic and immersion in the text, a total reluctance to remember anything. The greatest threat, according to the authors, lies in the gradual loss of spiritual foundations, the spiritual core embedded in "long" texts.
On the basis of the analysis, the properties of a person thinking which actively uses social networks has been determined: fragmentation, clipping, one-dimensionality, inability to think independently, lack of long-term memory, reduced depth of understanding of information and the ability to concentrate on a specific object, cosmopolitanism, hysterics, reduced ability to empathy for others, increased self-centeredness, lost socialization skills.
The possible consequences for humanity the clip thinking phenomenon functioning has been analyzed: the crisis of the verbal text (verbal printed text in the 21st century will be replaced by figurative visual messages). As an alternative, the researchers propose the introduction of so-called creolized texts into the educational process, the texture of which consists of two inhomogeneous parts: verbal and non-verbal; the change of traditional socialization to digital cybersocialization, the consequences of which have both a positive (constructive use of cyberspace resources and opportunities to meet numerous individual needs, earlier inclusion of young people in social activities), and a negative nature (formation of dependence on cyberspace and modern information and communication technologies).
It is emphasized that the main way of developing digital thinking will be a harmonious combination of clip and conceptual thinking.
It is noted that perhaps the most dangerous trend in the development of digital clip thinking is the loss of a person's ability to understand and create new things and the tendency to plagiarism.
