The article substantiates the strength of Ukrainian patriotism as a spiritual and political phenomenon. The author reveals the national and civic orientation of the patriotism of the Ukrainian people and the role of reflection in understanding this phenomenon in times of war. This is the third article that continues this theme of deepening the concept of «patriotism» and reflection on the war, the place and role of Ukrainians in the war, the comprehension of spiritual values, etc. War destroys the material world, but it hardens people's souls and mobilizes spiritual resources. Patriotism is now perceived in tandem with the national idea, because this idea is a certain system of social organization.
The purpose of the article is to reveal the national and civic orientation of the patriotism of the Ukrainian people and the role of reflection in understanding this phenomenon in times of war.
Attention is focused on the semantic components of the concept of «patriotism» - love, devotion, respect, passion, exaltation, courage, desire - and examples are given. The embroidered shirt contains patriotic passion and exaltation as a symbol of self-identification, a way of expressing one's own freedom, and a symbol of defiance; murals as a spiritual weapon of Ukrainian rebellion, freedom, and solidarity. The Ukrainian language and people's attitudes toward it are perceived in a new, vivid, and loving way: the language is perceived as a symbol, the nation's wealth, and a distinctive spiritual feature
Reflection is understood as a deep emotional feeling of the power of effective patriotism (this is a continuation of previous articles): this is a war for the souls of people, and spirituality helps us to feel how sensitive we remain to the pain of others, to loss, death, and most importantly, how spiritually we are above the enemy.
The thesis is that morality is the spiritual foundation of patriotism, and patriotism is the practical embodiment of love for the country. Patriotism is an indicator of the spirituality of both the individual and the nation.
It is practically shown that the article can be used in the process of studying humanities, debates or discussions about Ukrainian patriotism in times of war.
