Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of revealing the role of social and humanitarian courses in the process of spiritual, moral, and patriotic education of the first year social work students (Department of Sociology and Social Work of National University «Lviv Polytechnic»).

The specifics of the «social worker» profession, its significance for society, and the social mission of a social worker in the conditions of martial law are considered.

The potential opportunities of such social and humanitarian courses as «Social pedagogy», «Interpersonal communication», «Introduction to the specialty of social work» regarding the disclosure and development of the spiritual and moral potential of the student's personality, patriotic education are revealed.

The answers of the first-year students about their motivation regarding the choice of the future profession, their ideas about the social worker profession were analyzed.

The students’ impressions, their opinions and considerations after watching the films «Mother Teresa», «Chorists», which are related to their future profession, are presented.

The most important task and psychological features of a social worker's work with veterans and military personnel during martial law and especially in the post-war period are considered.

The concept of a spiritually healthy person is revealed, a model of a spiritually healthy person is presented, psychological-pedagogical and social qualities that must be formed in a future social worker are considered.

It is noted that the courses of the socio-humanitarian cycle, appropriate socio-pedagogical and spiritual technologies, synergistic interaction with students actively contribute to the spiritual, moral and patriotic education of student youth.
