This article is devoted to the study of socio-psychological and spiritual functions of French borrowing in English, which for centuries have formed the character and structure of English vocabulary. French has influenced English not only in the historical context, but also through cultural and social aspects, which is also reflected in the psychological and spiritual guidelines of native speakers. The process of borrowing French words into English was not only a lexical, but also a socio-cultural phenomenon, which influenced the values and the perception of different social and cultural processes. In the article, French borrowings are considered in terms of their role in the creation of certain socio-psychological and spiritual contexts, in particular in the formation of cultural identity, identification of social strata and groups, as well as in influencing worldview through language. One aspects of the study are the influence of French vocabulary on English in the context of bringing new philosophical, religious and aesthetic concepts, which enhances the interaction between social and cultural spheres within two languages.
The purpose of the work is to determine how French borrowings in English function as socio-psychological and spiritual elements, as well as these elements change the perception of cultural and social guidelines. The study revealed key aspects of French borrowing, which played an important role in the development of English social and cultural identity.
The results can be used for further research in the field of sociolinguistics, linguocultural studies and language psychology. They also contribute to a deeper understanding of the interaction of language, culture and consciousness.
