The article provides a theoretical and methodological analysis of preventive activities in Ukraine aimed at the social education of children and adolescents, in particular those who exhibit deviant behavior. Attention is focused on the legal basis for the organization of social education, which is based on regulatory legal acts, such as the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and national programs of educational work. The history of the development of the term «difficultly educated» is analyzed, which in the modern context characterizes children with deviant behavior. Based on classical pedagogical concepts (P. Blonsky, A. Makarenko, V. Sukhomlynsky), the directions of education of «difficult children» are considered, in particular, the emphasis is placed on the organization of school self-government, as well as labor, spiritual and social education. An analysis of modern approaches to preventive work is carried out, the need to inform children about their rights and obligations through legal education, as well as the development of positive motivation and the formation of legal awareness. Particular attention is paid to the study of methods (psychological correction, formation of positive life experience, cognitive restructuring, etc.), forms (individual, group, special), and types (elimination or reduction of negative factors on the child's personality, restoration of behavior, social adaptation) of prevention of deviant behavior of children and adolescents.
The article emphasizes the need for a comprehensive approach in preventive work, which includes the interaction of various institutions: educational institutions, social services, public organizations. The main result of the study is the conclusion about the importance of social prevention and pedagogical work for the prevention of deviant behavior, the formation of a morally mature personality capable of integration into society.
