CORDOCENTRISM AS A MANIFESTATION OF SPIRITUALITY IN UKRAINIAN PHILOSOPHICAL THOUGHT

Abstract

The paper explores cordocentrism as a direction of Ukrainian philosophical thought, which reflects the specifics of Ukrainian spirituality. Cordocentrism represents the “heart” as the spiritual center of human existence, in which the “heart” is a universal category that combines the principle of unity of the spiritual heart with the mentally rational forces of а man. The place of the “philosophy of the heart” in the system of human mental activity of а man, as well as the difference between the definitions of “mind” (“intellect”) and “mind” (“spiritual heart”) are studied. The former term usually refers to human intelligence and ability of logic associated with it - what science is based on and what it uses. The mind usually means the human consciousness as part of the soul, which in its turn includes the mind (intellect) and the spiritual heart. Here the mention of the heart in the spiritual aspect does not mean the organ that pumps the blood - it is the spiritual heart. In the arsenal of mind (consciousness of the soul) there is also intuition, enlightenment, etc., which are the properties of the spiritual heart. Cordocentrism is a theory combining physical and spiritual reality, in which a man is reduced to the concept of spiritual and this spiritual comes to the fore. Cordocentrism, as a direction of Ukrainian philosophical thought and philosophical tradition, reflects the spiritual and practical history of the nation, the mentality of the Ukrainian ethnic group, the originality of Ukraine with its socio-cultural background, and understanding of all these factors of interaction is the only condition for revealing the identity of Ukrainian philosophical thought. Ukrainian thinkers transferred their views more clearly in the context of human life, purpose and life circumstances of a man. The inner content of cordocentrism, the primary hierarchy of the spiritual, which is inherent in the Ukrainian people, was clearly manifested during the confrontation in the full-scale war against Russia when almost all the Ukrainians stood up for their homeland, showing incredible height and breadth of spirit strength, strength of love for their country, and self-sacrifice.
