The article examines the issue of designing tourism development as the basis of tourism knowledge in the system of training specialists in tourism and hospitality who undergo professional training in higher education institutions. The formation of tourism as a socio-economic infrastructure, the growth of a harmonious multicultural person with a holistic scientific outlook on the global and international purpose of tourism in international relations and cooperation, cultural solidarity of humanity, personal-intellectual, psychological and professional development, the formation of national consciousness, etc., attract attention his role in society. It is emphasized that integration into the world system of tourism and hospitality requires the transition of Ukrainian hotel, restaurant, and tourist enterprises to global standards of service, changes in the forms of organization and management in the hotel, restaurant, and tourist business. The formation of the tourist industry as one of the leading branches of the market economy is impossible without educated specialists who are able to take into account various components of the formation of demand and supply in the market of tourist and hotel services, seasonal, temporary and random factors. The importance of acquiring knowledge and skills of planning and forecasting the sustainable development of tourism by future specialists in tourism and hospitality as the basis of tourism knowledge in institutions of higher education and the readiness to implement the acquired knowledge and skills in professional activities in the conditions of the tourism market is emphasized.
