Abstract

The article reveals the relevance of M. Lysenko's “Prayer for Ukraine” and its educational significance. It is shown that spirituality is the value basis of the national worldview of Ukrainians, and the entire educational process of a modern educational institution should be subordinated to its formation. The need for spiritual and moral education of children and youth based on the cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people is substantiated. The role of M. Lysenko's “Prayer” (“God is great, one”) in national-patriotic education and in the formation of a moral personality is shown. The history of the creation of the spiritual hymn of Ukraine and the necessity of its popularization in the modern school are disclosed.

The opinion about the reflection in the work “Prayer for Ukraine” of the national characteristics of Ukrainian music, the reproduction in it of the prayerful spirit of pious songs of the Ukrainian people, which is distinguished by a bright, cheerful color, warm, optimistic intonations and sincere religiosity, is substantiated.

In times of grief and misfortune, Lysenko raised the Ukrainian people to awareness of their human dignity and national value. And today, during the war for the very existence of the Ukrainian people and their freedom, this work is more relevant than ever.

Performing the “Prayer” strengthens the will of young Ukrainians for the victory of good over evil, light over darkness; nurtures faith in the beautiful future of the Ukrainian land protected by God, love for its people and its spiritual culture, strength of spirit and desire to learn and work for the benefit of its free, independent state.
